Raman Kumar

Most of my research has focussed on community ecology of birds in the context of anthropogenic modification of habitat, particularly woodpeckers vis-a-vis forest management in Uttarakhand. However, my interests are fairly eclectic, and include conservation, bird behaviour, citizen science, and nature education. I am also involved in developing effective awareness material and translating it into Hindi.

Ongoing projects:
1. Nesting behaviour of the globally threatened Great Slaty Woodpecker
2. Nature Vidya – Developing material and content for strengthening environment education in schools
3. Using citizen science to monitor environmental parameters in urban and peri-urban areas
